The story of Villa Severka
Villa Severka was built in 1929 as the Hubka family villa, and its original walls breathe history and memories of the days of Tatra glory.
Its founder, Peter Hubka (1847–1931) — a tanner, factory owner and patron from Liptovský Mikuláš — was also, as the main investor, behind the founding of the Palace sanatorium and the climatic spa in Starý Smokovec. Within his own family he suffered more than one great loss to tuberculosis, widespread at the time.
"So that Slovak women and mothers would not die of tuberculosis."
This motto became the mission of Peter Hubka's great Tatra investment. The Palace sanatorium — today affectionately known as "Penzák" — remains a landmark of Smokovec to this day and is forever tied to our family's story. You can enjoy its unique view from our Palace apartment.
A legacy that lives on
After an extensive renovation completed in 2008, Villa Severka has been redesigned so that our guests can enjoy their stay in spacious yet cosy apartments whose furnishings evoke a sense of comfort and offer enchanting views of the majestic Tatra peaks.
Our goal — as Peter Hubka's descendants — is simple: to give you a feeling of home and an ideal base for an unforgettable holiday in the High Tatras, in summer and winter alike, and to carry on the legacy of our ancestors, who valued the Tatra landscape and treated it with respect.
